Choosing Nail Length When Your Reference Includes Gem Details

A practical way to discuss length and decorative details without assuming the photograph requires extensions or includes every design add-on.

Pink manicure with small multicolored gems on rounded nails.
Small colored gems over a glossy pink base: separate the decoration from the length when planning the service.

The photograph shows a soft pink finish with small colored gem details. It is useful for discussing a look, but it does not establish the client’s neighbourhood, the product used or whether extensions were added. For a Lake Magdalene client planning a visit, those are separate decisions to make before booking.

Compare the reference with your current length

Look at how much nail extends beyond the fingertip and compare that with your own nails. Decide whether you want to keep your natural length, shorten it or add length. Tell the studio if one or more nails are much shorter than the others.

An overlay and a full extension set have different booking descriptions. Read the natural-length builder gel options before selecting a service solely because the reference has a smooth, structured finish.

Separate the shape from the decoration

A rounded, oval, almond or softly squared outline can change the overall impression even with the same base color. Explain which part of the reference you like rather than asking for a photograph to be copied without adjustment.

Small decorative details also need to be discussed. The number of nails with art and the complexity of the design can affect time and cost. Choose the closest listed design add-on, and contact the studio if your reference does not clearly match an option.

Account for repairs and existing product

A missing piece of length is different from a small chip. A repair added to your main service is different from a full set of extensions. Describe what is currently on your nails and how many individual nails need attention.

If another salon applied gel, dip, acrylic, hard gel or Gel-X, check the removal menu as part of the booking. Do not assume a design appointment includes removal simply because the reference shows bare-looking pink nails.

Choose a real studio and a workable appointment

The Carrollwood studio is at 5121 Ehrlich Rd, Suite 103A, Tampa, FL 33624. The other option is South Tampa. Check the chosen address and allow for your own journey from Lake Magdalene.

Review the service, specialist, estimated time and add-ons in the calendar. For a simpler finish at your existing length, compare the manicure service choices rather than automatically booking extensions.
